Journaling for Growth and Mindfulness

Journaling for Growth and Mindfulness

Hello Beautiful People,

Over the years of writing and publishing four books, one of the most powerful tools I’ve used is journaling. It’s more than just putting thoughts on paper—it’s a way to process emotions, discover ideas, and track personal growth.

If you’ve been wanting to start journaling or need a way to get back into it, here are five gentle tips to make the habit feel fun and healing.

1. Start with One Word

When you’re unsure how to start, pick a word that matches your mood—like “calm,” “frustrated,” or “hopeful.” Write about why that word fits your day. One word can open the door to meaningful reflection.

2. Use Guided Prompts

Some days, we just need a little nudge. Prompts like “What do I need more of in my life?” or “What made me smile today?” make journaling easy and thoughtful. I’ve created dozens of prompts I use for myself and share in my journals.

3. Create a Peaceful Plan

Light a candle. Put on soft music. Journaling doesn’t have to be rushed. Give yourself 10 minutes of calm. This small act of care helps turn journaling into a self-care habit.

4. Be Honest With Yourself

No one else will read your journal unless you want them to. Let it be your safe space. Say what you feel—even if it’s messy. Your honesty is part of your healing.

5. Reflect Often

Once a week, flip through old entries. It’s amazing what you’ll discover. You'll see patterns, lessons, and how much you've grown.

My Final Thoughts

Journaling isn’t about perfect grammar or beautiful pages—it’s about YOU. Your voice. Your heart. Your healing. Your Story.
