Hello beautiful people! Let's talk about something today that gets a lot of pretty Instagram posts but not nearly enough honest conversation. Self-love. Not the bubble bath version, although there is absolutely nothing wrong with a good bubble bath. I mean the real self-love. The kind that asks you to look at yourself honestly and choose yourself even when it is uncomfortable.
That kind of self-love is hard. I know because I have had to do that work. More than once. And I want to be real with you about what it actually involves because I think when we only show the highlight reel version, we make people feel like something is wrong with them when the work feels difficult.
Nothing is wrong with you. The work is just genuinely hard. And it is also genuinely worth it.
What Real Self-Love Requires
It requires honesty. The kind where you sit quietly and ask yourself which patterns you keep repeating and why. Where you look at the relationships in your life and ask whether they are building you up or draining you down. Where you stop blaming only outside circumstances and get curious about what you are bringing to the situations in your life.
That is not fun. It is not comfortable. But it is where actual growth lives.
Self-love also requires boundaries. And boundaries are not mean. They are not selfish. They are the clearest way you can say to yourself and to others: I matter. My peace matters. My energy matters. Learning to say no to things that do not serve you, even when the guilt is loud, is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself.

Why a Practice Matters
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make with personal growth work is treating it like a one-time event. They read a book, feel inspired for a week, and then drift back into old patterns because there is no daily practice holding them steady.
Self-love is not a destination. It is a practice. Something you come back to every day, even on the days you do not feel like it. Especially on those days.
That is why I created my 30-Page Self-Love Planner. It is not a collection of affirmations to paste on a mirror and ignore. It is a guided space for daily reflection, honest check-ins with yourself, and intentional choices about how you want to show up in your own life.
A Book That Goes Even Deeper
If you want to explore this work through a real personal story, my book Dating Me: The Wise, The Mature & The Satisfied is about exactly this journey. It is about choosing yourself in relationships, in business, and in the everyday moments that shape how we feel about who we are. It is personal. It is honest. And readers tell me it feels like a conversation with someone who truly gets it.
You Don't Have to Do This Alone
Growth in community is different from growth in isolation. When you are surrounded by people who are also doing the work, something shifts. You normalize the hard parts instead of hiding them. You celebrate the progress instead of minimizing it.
My Areatae Consulting Group community on Skool is a space where we talk about all of it. Business, books, family, personal growth, the messy middle of figuring out who you are and who you want to become. Come join us. The conversation is always good.

You Are Worth the Work
I want to close with something I genuinely believe. You deserve to be someone you actually enjoy being. Not a performance for other people. Not a version of yourself built around other people's needs and expectations. The real you. The full you.
That version exists. She is just waiting for you to choose her. š
