Hello beautiful people! I am so glad you are here today because I want to talk about something that I hear all the time, and I mean all the time. Someone leans in close and whispers, "I have a book inside of me. I just don't know how to start." And every single time, my heart does this little thing because I know exactly what that feeling is like.
When I wrote my very first book, I did not have a plan. I did not have a publisher, a writing coach, or a detailed outline mapped out on a whiteboard. What I had was a message that would not leave me alone and a laptop that had definitely seen better days. That was it. That was enough.
And here I am now, eleven books later, telling you the same thing I wish someone had told me at the beginning. You do not have to have it all figured out before you start. The figuring out happens in the doing.
The Story We Keep Telling Ourselves
We wait for the right time. We wait until the kids are older, until work slows down, until we have taken one more class, read one more book about writing, or feel more confident. And while we are waiting, the book stays locked inside us. The people who needed to read it never get the chance.
That is the real loss. Not the imperfect first draft. Not the chapter you delete and rewrite three times. The real loss is the story that never gets shared because fear dressed itself up as "not being ready yet."
I have met people who have been "almost ready" for ten years. The book they were going to write when the time was right never got written. I do not want that to be your story.
What Starting Actually Looks Like
Starting does not look like sitting down and writing chapter one from start to finish in one inspired session. It rarely works that way. Starting looks like this: you open a document or a notebook and you write the one thing you most want to say. One paragraph. One page. One honest sentence about what your book is really about.
From there, you build. Some days you add a lot. Some days you add a little. But the book grows because you kept coming back to it.
The most important question you can ask yourself right now is not "How do I write a book?" It is "What is the message I cannot stop thinking about?" Answer that and you have your beginning.
A Tool That Meets You Right Where You Are
One of the reasons people get stuck is that blank page. The cursor just sits there blinking while your brain goes absolutely quiet. I created The Writers GPT for exactly that moment. It is a custom AI tool built specifically for authors that helps you brainstorm ideas, build out your concept, and push through the silence when the words are not coming easily. It is not there to write your book for you. Your voice is yours and no tool can replace it. But it can be the spark that gets you moving.
You can find it in my Shopify store and on Etsy. It is also available inside the Authors Path classroom in my Skool community.
When You Want a Guide in Your Corner
Sometimes what you need most is not another resource to read. It is someone to sit down with you and help you get clear. That is why I offer a From Idea to Author: 1:1 Strategy Session. In one focused hour, we map out your book concept, identify your audience, and build a next-step plan you can actually follow. No fluff. No vague advice. Just real, practical clarity for where you are right now.
The session is $100 and it has helped authors who were stuck for months finally move forward. If that sounds like what you need, book your spot and let's get to work.
You Already Have What You Need
Your experiences, your perspective, your voice — nobody else has those. The book you want to write is possible. It is also needed. Someone out there is waiting for the exact words that only you can put on the page.
So let's stop waiting for perfect and start with real. That is how every good book gets written.
Your story matters. The world is ready for it. 💜
